Not bad at all
- door
December 16, 2013

The Mill Resort and Suites is not bad at all for a relatively cheap accommodation. We stayed there just before high-season and it was rather quiet. All rooms are non-smoking. We had booked a studio which apparently had recently been renovated. That was OK; adequate kitchenette, clean and tidy with a good bath room and plenty of hot water from the tap, a fan above the bed and a working air-conditioning. However be sure to book a renovated room. Other guests we met stayed in a non-renovated room which was much worse and lacked sufficient hot water in the shower.
A possible disadvantage is that studio's are constructed in a block of three (A-B-C) with only a (locked) door in between. Noisy neighbors could be a problem. The B-studio has two neighbors.
The pool area is close to the bar and is clean and comfortable with adequate towel service.
We did not use any of the other facilities e.g. laundry, restaurant so we can't comment on that. The boulevard with lots of restaurants and bars is at a 5 min walking distance.
The beach is also at a 5 min walk via the lower lobby of the Westin hotel. The Mill service at the beach is limited to chairs, available until 17:30. With sunset at around 18:30 that is a bit early. Food and drinks at the beach area are available from the Westin facilities.

The Mill

We have been going to The Mill since 2001 every year at least once, sometimes twice. We love it! We have never had a problem that wasn't resolved on the spot. The employees at The Mill are like family and so accommodating. We will be returning in 4 weeks for our annual November trip. Can't wait.

Okay if you're budgeting

We just returned from our 4 night stay at the Mill resort. While our trip was overall amazing, the hotel was just okay. It wasn't terrible but I don't think we will be staying there again. However, I must say that I was impressed by the very accommodating staff. A word of advice; stay far away from the garden cafe, the food was terrible, and with so many amazing places to dine on the island, it truly is a waste of money (this includes breakfast.) I actually had to convince my boyfriend to not switch over to the Marriot. He hated the hotel, I didn't mind so much, after all you don't go to Aruba to sit in your hotel room all day anyway. I guess I would recommend the Mill for those who wish to vacation on a budget; otherwise, I would book elsewhere.

Avoid this place. It's noisy, most of the staff are not very helpful and their beach area well... read Paula's review.

My family and I had a great time at The Mill Resort - comparing it to European hotel complexs it was very quiet with plenty of room for everyone the relax without everyone being on top of each other. We had a complete "block" to ourselves (A, B & C) as there were 5 in our party and the rooms and the amount of space was just superb. Highly recommended!!!

The staff at the mill resort made me feel at home.

When i go back to aruba, I will stay at this resort because its very affordable and is very close to beaches and walking distance to other gambling resorts. 2 philippina waitreses served me breakfast lunch and dinner everyday with a smile.

Disappointed in room & staff

We were very disappointed in our stay at The Mill. We paid for a Junior Suite but received a Studio. While The Mill acknowledged that the error was at their "corporate office", they did absolutely NOTHING to resolve the problem. They wouldn't move us, despite availability, they did not refund us the difference, nor would they provide us a credit of any sort... not even a complimentary muffin. The staff, including the manager and the reservations specialist went out of their way to avoid us the rest of our 5 day stay. In addition to the reservation problem, the room itself was outdated and relatively unclean. We were in a lock-out unit with 2? gaps under the doors, so not only could you hear every word of the people next door, you could see them and their cigarette smoke entered our room. The breezeways are loud, as well, and the first night we thought someone was trying to break in our room because the doors are right next to each other. The pool area is clean, but the walk to the beach takes you across the street and behind the Wyndham dumpsters. I?ve stayed other places on the island, and this was by far the worst. It?s not worth the ?value? of a cheap room. We?ll stay on the beach again next time.
